Summary of the trip to Iceland
A representation of musicians from the Jakubow and Stanislawow community brass bands traveled to Iceland to promote their activities and our culture there. Thanks to months of cooperation between the two orchestras, the artists are preparing thrilling concerts. One of them they performed for the residents of Egilsstradir, during which energetic songs including a mix of works by the King of Pop Michael Jackson sounded. Among the tunes presented was the Italian song Bella ciao, popularized today thanks to the well-known series House of Paper. In the midst of the concert’s thematic diversity, listeners were subtly lulled by Michael Buble’s lyrical Sway, and were introduced to contemporary Polish music trends in a piece by our native composer and singer Sanah.
The trip allowed our musicians to admire the beauty of the landscape of the extraordinary island shaped simultaneously by volcanoes and glaciers. The harsh Icelandic climate delighted everyone with the extraordinary vastness of untouched by man stretches of lava fields. Adding to the unique experience was the observation of a volcanic eruption, which the group of artists had already caught from the plane and then observed as they traveled around the country. Abundantly snow-capped rocky mountains, fjords, frozen lakes, glacial rivers or numerous waterfalls were the sights that satiated the eyes of the trip participants.
This was done thanks to the implementation of the project “COOLtura is COOL. Improving access to culture and art for residents of Jakubow and Stanislawow Municipality”.
