Sculpture workshop in Jakubów

In the period 30.04-04.05.2023, an unusual cultural event took place in Jakubow. For 5 days, residents and guests of Jakubow Municipality participated for the first time in sculpture workshops. During this period, invited artists from the mountains presented the artistry of the sculptor’s work. Participants included children, teenagers and adults, who were able to see what this type of creative work looks like. During the event, dazzling small and large sculptural forms made of wood were created. The resulting works: the figure of St. Jacob, the figure of St. Anne, the facade of the church in Jakubow, and the traveler’s benches, are displayed in the square of St. Jacob the Apostle in Jakubow.

The artist leading the sculpture workshop was Marcin Lichosyt, who has been involved in sculpting since he was a child. He participates in various competitions and outdoor sculpture workshops in Poland and abroad, winning high places on the podium, winning prizes and cups. Works coming out from under his chisel decorate churches museums, open-air museums and homes of private individuals, as well as communal and district squares.

The purpose of the workshop was to provide the local community with participation in an innovative event from an unprecedented range of topics, to popularize participation in unusual artistic events, and to promote various forms of artistic work.

The event was one of the activities in the project entitled „COOLture is COOL. Improving access to culture and art in the Municipality of Jakubów and the Municipality of Stanisławów”, co-financed by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

We would like to thank all participants for their participation in the event. We invite you to participate in future events and project activities, about which more at https://cooltura.com.pl/.
