Cultural Sunday in Jakubow Municipality
On Sunday, June 18, 2023, a cultural festival entitled Cultural Sunday in Jakubow Municipality was held on the square by the Holy Trinity Church in Wisniew.
Performances by folk ensembles, cultivation of traditions, integration of the local community and the always welcome performances by children graced the stage in Wisniew that day. The day was full of presentations of many forms of culture, from dance to handicrafts to culinary traditions. It brought together local groups and representatives of folklore from neighboring regions of Poland. Participants of Cultural Sunday had the pleasure of learning about Tatar traditions, watching a performance by the Tatar song and dance group BUŃCZUK, watching a presentation of handicrafts and tasting traditional Tatar dishes thanks to cooperation with the Tatar Cultural Society Foundation.
The folk band KALINKA from Bialystok, presenting well-known folk songs and original compositions, also had its share at the festival in Wisniew. The music of “Kalinka” maintained in a modern convention, with a contemporary sound, enriched with ethnic instrumentation, provides a high attractiveness of the concerts.
Also appearing in Wisniew was the local band CEGŁOWIANIE, presenting folk songs of local and supra-regional character. From the local artists presented themselves Wieslaw Klepacki playing the harmonica, Filip and Jakub Laszkowski from Mistow, nurturing the extremely rare today playing the pedal harmonica and drum, the dance and vocal group Mażoretki from Jakubow, presenting children’s joy of developing artistic passions.
The event was one of the activities in the project entitled „COOLture is COOL. Improving access to culture and art in the Municipality of Jakubów and the Municipality of Stanisławów”, co-financed by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
